Saturday 9: Summer

Saturday 9: The Lazy Days of Summer

1. What is your favorite summer drink? Fresh, homemade limeade

2. What is the best summer sport to play? swimming (I would say canoeing/kayaking... but many summer days are a little too hot! Those are best in spring and fall!)

3. What’s the best summer sport to watch? Olympics gymnastics

4. Do you like the ocean, the pool or the lake? Ocean and pool for swimming, lake or river for canoeing/kayaking

5. Some folks drink whiskey in the winter and gin, tequila (margaritas) or rum drinks in the summer. Does your alcohol of choice change? Not really... sometimes I spike both my winter drink (hot chocolate) and my summer drinks (milkshakes, yogurt fruit smoothies) with vanilla extract!

6. What is your favorite summer song? I don't think I have a particular favorite that I associate with summer.

7. What was your best summer growing up? How old were you and why was it best? I guess when I was 15. That spring I had a unique opportunity to join my new youth group for a trip to Orlando. I lost 25 lbs in anticipation of that very trip ;) and I felt good. I made a bunch of good, clean friends ( including several cute 18yr old guys ) and spent a lot of the summer hanging out with my new friends. One fond memory was of evening backyard pool parties--lit by Christmas lights. Since I couldn't drive yet, one of those cute 18 yr olds often drove me home in his convertible. Our family took a long vacation to visit V* in Indiana, sightsee in Michigan, visit my brother's friend's family in Iowa, and Grandma and cousins in Illinois. Plenty of fun memories!

8. Have you ever had a summer romance that you knew would end? Yes... he was the only non-Christian I ever dated (more than once, that is). I knew from the start it was not going to be serious.

9. How old were you when you first went skinny-dipping? Who were you with? Are you surprised I can answer this one? I think I was 24. I was with 3 good friends (all girls). We swam by moonlight in a campground pool! (There were only about 25 people staying at the campground, so it was fairly easy to monitor for onlookers).

Visit Saturday 9 to find more participants and join in on the fun!
