Resurrecting the Dream

This post is the final episode in a 5-part story. Here are links to Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4. We left off with me recognizing, now more than twenty years later, that I had let my childhood dreams die. And I’ve gained new perspectives, realizing that just maybe these dreams were God-given after all.

I’ve shared this whole long story with you for two reasons. One, to share the resurrection of my dream in hopes that you can resurrect your dreams. And two, so you can grasp how big my current big news is: I am taking two big steps toward pursuing these long lost dreams!

I’ve registered to take acting classes at my community college. I’m so excited, and so nervous! I feel like I’m really no good at this stuff, especially when I watch talented actors/actresses step in and out of roles so easily. But I know it’s in my heart, so I’m going to try my best to let down my self-consciousness and go for it!

I’ve also wanted to take singing lessons all my life. I have a musical background, but not an ounce of formal voice training. I’ve always been afraid to. Always thinking I don’t have enough singing talent to be worth training my voice. One friend in college encouraged me that I should do it, but his lone voice did not outweigh the years of discouragement in my mind. Now I am so aware that this is in my heart--I’ve got to try it. So I’m trying to arrange a way to take voice lessons as well.

It’s a lot of arranging for childcare for Fuzzy-Wuzzy and with Squiggly-Wiggly entering Kindergarten. I thought I had a potential part-time job to cover the cost of childcare, but that didn’t work out. So I’m just believing that the finances will work out (childcare is not cheap).

Classes start next week! Yippee!
