The (Im)proper Function of Noses

I came home tonight to a note on the kitchen table. It is a transcription of a conversation which occurred over dinner (while I was out):

Squiggly-Wiggly: "Why did you smell that?"

HotSauce: "To see what it smells like."

Squiggly-Wiggly: "But noses can't see!"

We're not completely sure if Squiggly-Wiggly intended a joke or not. He's five, and has started to experiment with making jokes. So I'm not sure whether to be amused or impressed, but either way, he's one funny kid.
