Freedom Friday - Travel

Here's a freedom picture. We took our boys to the Capitol building grounds to run around and play. Hmm, in how many countries can you do that? But that's not really the freedom I was going to discuss today.

Today's freedom thought came last week... I just didn't find time to blog about it then. So I posted a teaser in my Wordless Wednesday picture. That's me and my "first best friend" V*, about ten years ago. (She's my Indiana friend who didn't live in the boonies!) Sadly, it has been seven years since I've seen her.

So my freedom thought came to me as V* called me to discuss dates for my upcoming visit. I went online as we spoke, discussed which cheaper arrival/departure times would work best, and booked my ticket. It struck me that I was exercising a great freedom: the freedom to travel throughout our entire country, crossing state lines, without any government hassles whatsoever. (OK, I guess I'll have to go through security, but if I was driving instead of flying, I would not encounter any security checkpoints.)

I'm so excited to go spend a weekend with my "bestest buddy ol pal" from childhood. She and I are like soul-sisters. We're different in many ways, but we have a special bond, and let me tell you... we have some crazy fun when we're together. I can't wait till the end of June!

Freedom Friday is hosted by Politics for Moms.
