TCC referenced this typing speed test in her post today, so I had to give it a try. Once upon a time in college and slightly beyond, I held secretarial/admin assistant jobs, but I was never hired for my typing skill, which was just average for that type of job; I think it was 50-60 wpm or so.
I don't think I've ever done a typing speed test like this one... with random words. I've always done ones that are made up of sentences and sometimes even paragraphs that actually mean something.
I also just took some typing speed tests sometime last fall, and I was mostly around 55-60 wpm. I think the absolute highest I got was 64, and I probably took at least 15 tests at 2 different sites. Either blogging has increased my typing speed, or the lack of real sentences and punctuation has helped me along:
1st try: 47 correct and a bunch wrong... I think I skipped a word because for a long time it was highlighting word after I typed them, until I typed the same one twice!
2nd try: 62 correct, 1 wrong!
3rd try: 65 correct, 0 wrong!!
4th try: 71 correct, 1 wrong!
71 words
71 is good enough for me. I don't think I've ever broken 70 in the past. Typing tests on computer are so much easier than on the old typewriters... I never did this well back then, because I make a lot of mistakes as I type, but my fingers know it as soon as they've typed wrong, and without even thinking about it they fly to the backspace key and retype. Being that I only did 4 tests, I imagine I could get higher if I tried the test a whole bunch more, but I'm not setting a higher goal at this time... doing that would make me stay trying it for way too long! I may be good at speed and intellectual games, but I'm terrible about staying on task when it comes to managing my home! Guess I should go now.

76 words, 1 mistake
I've always been a fast typist, however, my accuracy isn't always perfect.
I was great meeting you in the "real world" last evening. Blessings!!!
Being dyslexic im a bit slow, so am impressed with your score!
